Kevin Harvick will drive with a special paint scheme at Dover
Kevin Harvick will be driving a pink and black paint scheme on the #29 Rheem Chasing the Cure Chevy in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is all part of a program that Rheem is doing. The purpose of this program is to raise the awareness of Breast Cancer. I think it's a great thing Rheem is doing, and I think that more sponsors should also be doing something like this to support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month as well.

Kyle Busch dominates the Truck series race at the Magic Mile
Kyle Busch started on the pole and dominated the race, in fact he led all but 10 laps, and the laps that he didn't lead were because of green flag pit stops. At the end of the race there were only 6 trucks on the lead lap. It wasn't the most exciting race, but it was still a race. In my opinion I think all cup drivers should stay out of the lower Nascar series so the regulars can showcase their talents without being overshadowed by the cup drivers dominance in those series. Austin Dillon was the highest finisher of the truck regulars, finishing 2nd, that also gave him the points lead.

I think this will be a very close chase this year, and I think it will come down to the last race of the year. I honestly think that most of the drivers in the chase have a shot at winning the championship. For a driver to win the championship he will have to be very consistent in these next 9 races and possibly win a race.
Tony Stewart wins the first chase race
Tony Stewart won the race by saving enough gas to make it to the checkered flag. Others were not so lucky, Matt Kenseth, Ryan Newman, and Jeff Gordon were some of the drivers that ran out of fuel. Although Matt ran out of fuel he crossed the finish line in 8th, but was penalized because J.J. Yeley gave him a push on the last lap which is against the rules. Kenseth ended up finishing 21st but it didn't matter that he got pushed because if he didn't get pushed he would have ended up in the same position anyway.
Top 10:
1. Tony Stewart
2. Kevin Harvick
3. Dale Earnhardt Jr.
4. Carl Edwards
5. Brad Keselowski
6. Kurt Busch

I'm not a fan an of fuel mileage races, but it's still a race. I like races that come down to a pass to the finish line, and I'm sure after this race some drivers aren't fans of fuel mileage races either. The next race will be at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday. It will be the 2nd race in the 2011 chase for the Sprint Cup.

The Chase begins at Chicagoland Speedway
The 2011 chase for the Sprint Cup will begin at Chicagoland Speedway on Sunday.
Chase lineup:
1. Kyle Busch - 4 wins
2. Kevin Harvick - 4 wins
3. Jeff Gordon - 3 wins
4. Matt Kenseth - 2 wins
5. Carl Edwards - 1 win
6. Jimmie Johnson - 1 win
7. Kurt Busch - 1 win
8. Ryan Newman - 1 win
9. Tony Stewart - 0 wins
10. Dale Earnhardt Jr. - 0 wins
11. Brad Keselowski - Wild card, 3 wins
12. Denny Hamlin - Wild card, 1 win
I believe this years chase to the Sprint Cup will be one of the most exciting chases so far. I think the chase will come down to the last few laps at the final race of the chase. I think that Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon would be the ones battling it out at Homestead for the championship. It will be hard to beat Jimmie but Jeff has the consistency to do it. I also think that if Brad Keselowski is consistent and wins a race or two in the chase he can suprise everyone and possibly win the championship.
I also think that there will be non chase contendors winning some of the last 10 races. Now that the race to the chase is over, they can just try to win and not worry as much about points. Some drivers need a ride for next year and want to prove that they can win, well this could be the perfect time for that.
The chase starts Sunday at Chicago and I'm excited to see how it's all going to unfold, are you?

Clint Bowyer, current driver of the #33 Cheerios Chevy for Richard Childress Racing, is looking into other teams. His contract is up at the end of the year. Early in the year Bowyer had a desire to remain with RCR but things have "deteriorated." Not to mention that if he wanted to stay with RCR they would need to find a sponsor.

Trevor Bayne To Drive a Colorful Car at Michigan

Well 7 year old kids don’t usually design a race car but one 7 year old kid did. Katie Hahn of Omaha, Nebraska designed this colorful tie-dyed pattern car for the JDRF Race Car Design Contest. You can’t miss it! Katie has had type 1 diabetes since she was 5! JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) and Ford have had a partnership since 1998 and Ford has raised over 35 million dollars for JDRF. This kid didn’t just design this colorful car. She and her family have raised $4,210 making this contest have over $43,000 in donations. This story gets even more colorful because the team will be wearing matching uniforms, the pit wall lane will be just as colorful and Trevor Bayne driver of this colorful car will wear a fire suit supporting the colors like the car. This scheme will be run this weekend at Michigan

Brad Keselowski wins at Pocono despite his injury
I left before the race ended, but when I came back I was shocked with the results of the race.I wasn't expecting Brad to be the one in Victory Lane but he was. I wouldn't been surprised if he had gotten a top 10 or top 5, but he won. Now I see why he didn't want anyone else getting in his car, because he believed that he had a chance at winning even when injured. He proved to everybody that he wasn't going to let this injury get in his way of racing and winning.
Congrats to Brad Keselowski on a great victory at Pocono!
Carl Edwards re-signs with RFR
Now that it's settled Carl can focus on other things like winning races, and maybe even winning a championship. I believe we will see Carl Edwards in victory lane again this year. I believe his racing performance will be much better now that it's over and it's settled on where he will be next season. Could he be one of the contendors who will be battling for the championship at Homestead? I think so.

Paul Menard wins first career NSCS race
I wasn't expecting him to win the race at all. I was sure that Jeff Gordon was going to catch him, or that he would run out of fuel, but he didn't, he won the race. This season is full of first time winners. So far it has been a very exciting season. It's like you don't know who will win until the final lap on turn 4. I'm happy for him getting his first career NSCS win.
I was enjoying the first part of that race, because if you haven't noticed I'm a Kasey fan. But it didn't go so well for him near the end. I felt that he had a great chance at winning but ended up finishing 18th. Although he didn't do so well, I was happy to see a new face in victory lane.
I wonder who will end up in victory lane at Pocono. I have a feeling we won't know until the last corner on the last lap of the race. Should be an exciting race to watch!

Traffic trouble at Kentucky Speedway
This past weekend the three main Nascar series headed to race at Kentucky Speedway. This year was the inaugural Sorint Cup Series race at Kentucky. There were great expectations for this race. But the result didn't turn out so well.
The traffic going into Kentucky Speedway was horrible. It would take hours just to get into the parking area. But that's not the worst of it. Many fans who had tickets to see the race were turned away because the parking areas were full. That's just ridiculous, they should have been able to go to the race. They had tickets, but no they got turned away. Kentucky Speedway just didn't prepare well enough for this big event. It's sad to see all those fans get turned away.
After the race, it took hours just to get out of the track. I'm hoping that next year when it's time to race at Kentucky that the Speedway will be prepared for a big crowd. Although I don't think lots of fans who attended this race will end up going back next year.
Latest statement from Kentucky Speedway General Manager Mark Simendinger:
"Kentucky Speedway regrets the traffic conditions surrounding the Quaker State 400. We're committed to working with NASCAR, state and local officials and traffic experts to assure that this never happens again. The details of these improvements will be announced over time as they are formulated.
We also recognize the traffic problems resulted in some fans not being able to attend the Quaker State 400. We are gathering information on this and will announce a policy for these affected fans within seven days.
Our Quaker State 400 ticket holders are invited to share their experiences with us through fans@kentuckyspeedway.com. We thank all our fans for giving the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series such a great welcome to our venue"
I don't see that statement as an apology to the fans who were turned away, or to everyone who had to endure all the traffic, but that's just me. Your opinion could be different thn mine. Those are my thoughts on the weekend at Kentucky Speedway, so thanks for reading them.

Garrett Marchant
"I started to like it when I went to my dad's Late Model Race in 2007 when he finished P2 or either P3. As far as when I statred my first race it was at the Coastal Plains Raceway in 2010 in the Young Gun Series (We came home second that day)"
2. How long have you been racing?
"This marks my second year"
3. Who inspired you to get into racing?
"My Dad, Grandfather, Tom Elliott, Elliott Sadler, and others inspired me it was kind of my destiny seeing as my Dad and Granddad raced!"
4. What series do you race in now?
"The NASCAR Whelen All American Budweiser Pure Stock Series"
5. What role does fan support play in your racing career?
"It plays a big role, here lately I have absolutely no confidence in my ability to go out and win a race, but my fans always cheer me up and make me feel like I can. They are the greatest and I can never thank them enough!!!!"
6. What is the hardest part when it comes to racing?
"The hardest part would have to be getting to the front, it takes a while to gather the information to get there and it's very hard on the driver, but when the team does figure it out it's the sweetest feeling in the world!"
7. What is your racing goal/dream?
"It would of course have to be to make it to CUP, but if I don't make it my goal is to be a very respectable driver!"
Hope you make it into cup one day! Your fans will always support you 100% Good luck with your racing career :)
Hope you all enjoyed the interview! :)

2-Car drafting at Daytona
Both races were actually pretty exciting. So many lead changes, and lots of different leaders, in both the Nationwide race and the cup race. Joey Logano ended up in victory lane on Friday, and David Ragan ended up in victory lane on Saturday. Both races were very exciting, especially at the end. You didn't know who was going to be first across the finish line on the last lap.
Just because those 2 races were exciting, that doesn't change my view on if I like 2-car drafting, because I still don't. I wish it would go back to the old way were all the drivers were drafting in packs. I don't mind if you like it or not, that's ok. This is just my opinion. One of the reasons I don't like 2-car drafting is because at Talladega, Kasey Kahne lost Brian Vickers early, and had to draft with another car that was on a different pit strategy then him, so he was out there by himself for a few laps causing him to get a lap down, and it just went downhill from there. Hope you enjoyed my thoughts on the 2-car draft
Monday, June 13, 2011
Was there a race on Sunday?
There were only cautions for debri. The one time a car spun was when Greg Biffle spun near the entrace of pit road and didn't hit anything. Nascar decided not to have a caution for that when all the other ones were for debri. Very inconsistent on their part.
Honestly, I feel like this race is the race that Nascar haters hope for so they can prove to all the fans that Nascar is boring, and we all know it really isn't always like that. In fact most races are pretty exciting. Hopefully the next race will be pretty exciting throughout the whole race.

Fuel mileage races
You might think the reason I don't like fuel mileage races is because of what happened to my favorite driver Kasey Kahne during the Coca Cola 600. Well that's be part of it, but I really never did like fuel mileage races. Some people enjoy those races, but that's only when your driver gets a really good finish because of it, or if your driver wins. Most of the time NASCAR fans watch a race because they want to see drivers battle for the win, they enjoy the excitement of those close finishes.
Just because a race becomes a fuel mileage race doesn't mean I automatically turn off the tv of course, I love NASCAR, and I'm a very dedicated fan. No matter what kind of race it turns out to be I'm always watching the whole race.
