Clint Bowyer, current driver of the #33 Cheerios Chevy for Richard Childress Racing, is looking into other teams. His contract is up at the end of the year. Early in the year Bowyer had a desire to remain with RCR but things have "deteriorated." Not to mention that if he wanted to stay with RCR they would need to find a sponsor.
Here's a List of possible teams that could land Bowyer for the 2012 season:
1. Richard Petty Motorsports- They could option to sign Bowyer making them a 3 car operation. The only problem is sponsorship. Getting a package set for him could be what gets in the way for Bowyer coming to RPM.
2. Joe Gibbs Racing- They could settle for Bowyer a lot cheaper then what they could for Edwards. The only thing getting in the way again is sponsorship. GameStop could be an option. After Edwards announced he wasn't going to Gibbs the team called a 4th team a "Long Shot." They have the money and the experience to be able to sign Bowyer
3. Red Bull Racing- If the team can land investors soon Bowyer could go here. He was rumored to be close to signing with them, but that was before Red Bull announced they were leaving NASCAR. At this point and day I dont see him going here.
4. Michael Waltrip Racing- The team has looked at going to a 3 car team but they would have to find sponsorship. Toyota could give this team some help for landing Bowyer.
5. Roush Fenway- You probably are wondering why Roush Fenway because they already have 4 teams. Well, David Ragan has 1 year left on his contract after this season. David looked to be safe after he won Daytona in July. Well since then he has fell out of the top 20. He probably won't make the Chase. UPS contract is up at the end of this year as well. Sending David Ragan to Richard Petty Motorsports is possible opening room for Bowyer to come to Roush Fenway.
6. Richard Childress Racing- Of course they are possible. If Bowyer can't find any where else this is probably where he will land. They would have to find sponsorship though.
I think Bowyer will make his decision soon because he doesn't want it in the way of the team's focus especially because they are on the bubble to make the Chase.
